🗺 Site map

I'm A Celebrity site map showing warden clearance zones, muster points, site emergency assembly area, duress alarms and site-wide evacuation siren locations

Official site map - refer to the posted copy at the main gate for the most current version.

✦ Other key locations

  • Medical Department - long building in front of the main catering tent, next to Transport office ("Medical Room at Social")
  • Safety Office - at Tech Base, in front of the production office
  • Production & editorial - based at Tech Base
  • Security Office - at the front gate, with personnel around site and in camp
Step 6 of 14

Alarms & fire

🔔 Three alarm types

  • Duress alarm - activated at fixed points around site
  • Air horn - two 10-second blasts
  • Site-wide siren - signals a major evacuation

🔥 Discovering a fire

  1. Shout "FIRE, FIRE, FIRE" to warn people nearby.
  2. Activate the nearest duress alarm, or sound two 10-second air horn blasts.
  3. Radio the Safety Team on Channel 3 - give location and any immediate danger.
  4. Safety will make an all-calls radio announcement.
  5. If safe and your exit is clear, you may use a nearby extinguisher or hose. Never fight a bush fire yourself.
  6. Can't reach Safety? Call 000 - location: Dungay Creek Road, Dungay NSW.

🚶 On hearing the alarm

  1. Leave by the nearest safe exit - don't stop for belongings or equipment.
  2. Walk, don't run, to your muster point. Follow the Fire Warden's directions.
  3. Unsure, or muster point unsafe? Go straight to Social Base Emergency Assembly Area.
  4. Find your HoD and stay together; report anyone missing or injured to Safety.
Step 7 of 14

Bush fire, weather & floods

🌳 Bush fire

  • On Total Fire Ban / Extreme days: no hot work, welding, grinding or naked flame outside the workshops.
  • If a bush fire threatens site, evacuation is the default response - not sheltering.
  • Load into the nearest vehicle at Social Base and travel to accommodation, or to Sanderson's Carpark if directed.

⛈ Severe weather & lightning

  • Lightning within 10km closes the Studio and bridges. "Flash to bang" under 30 seconds = shelter immediately.
  • Safety will announce when bridges are closed; they reopen 30 minutes after the last strike.
  • Stay clear of open ground, tall isolated trees and metal structures.
  • Strong wind: keep clear of the forest and rigging bridges - risk of falling branches.
  • Never drive across a flooded causeway. Contact your HoD or Safety and await instructions.

🌊 Floods

  • Major flooding: Line Producers and Safety decide on evacuation. Go to the Social Assembly Point when instructed.
  • Flooding over roads: the road may close temporarily. Never drive through a flooded causeway.
Step 8 of 14

Medical emergency & snakes

✚ Medical emergency

  • Contact Medical immediately on Channel 2, then Safety on Channel 3. Give your exact location.
  • Ensure the area is safe first (e.g. power off to machinery).
  • Remember DRSABC: Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR.
  • Control serious bleeding with direct pressure. Burns: 20 minutes under running cold water.

🐍 Snake sighting

  • Do not approach, corner, touch or try to move any snake.
  • Keep distance, keep others away, radio Security/Safety immediately.
  • Bitten? Keep them still, apply a compression bandage over the bite, radio Medical on Channel 2.
  • Do not wash the wound or use a tourniquet.

13 species on site, 7 dangerous. Treat all bites as potentially lethal. Security on Channel 1 are certified to remove snakes - never provoke one with sticks or equipment.

Step 9 of 14

Reporting & wellbeing

📋 Reporting

  • First, help the injured person and make the scene safe.
  • Medical attention needed → Channel 2. Because of the tropical climate, all injuries should be referred, however minor.
  • No medical needed, report the incident/near miss → Channel 3, and tell your HoD.
  • If the incident is significant, preserve the scene - Safety will need to undertake a thorough and accurate investigation.
  • AUS crew: report the incident to your supervisor ASAP. An incident report form is to be completed within 24 hours of the incident.
  • UK crew: log the incident in i-Sight: itv.i-sight.com/portal.

♥ Crew wellbeing

Psychological safety matters here. A production can be demanding with long hours, high pressure and time away from home and it is normal to find this challenging at times. If you're not coping due to stress or fatigue, speak to your manager, the crew welfare coordinator, medical team, safety, production manager, the producers or HR. Look out for your colleagues too, and don't hesitate to flag it if you're concerned about someone else's wellbeing. All conversations are confidential.

Step 10 of 14

Safe work methods, codes of practice & PPE

All work on this production must follow the IAC WHS Plan, relevant Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and SafeWork Codes of Practice, and be carried out wearing the right PPE for the task.

📖 Codes of Practice

  • SafeWork Codes of Practice set out practical guidance on how to manage common WHS risks - for example manual handling, working at heights, managing risks, and first aid.
  • All work on this production must be carried out in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice for that task.
  • Ask your Head of Department or the Safety team if you're unsure which code applies to your work.

📝 Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

  • A SWMS is required for high-risk work - such as work at height, mobile plant use (telehandler and franna/cranes), rigging, scaffolding and underwater work.
  • You must read and understand the SWMS for your task before starting, and follow it at all times.
  • If site conditions change from what's described in the SWMS, stop work and notify your HoD or Safety immediately.
  • Ask your supervisor if you haven't seen the SWMS that applies to your task.

✅ Permitting

  • Permits must be obtained for hot works and confined spaces.

👢 What to wear (PPE)

  • Closed, sturdy footwear at all times - no thongs, sandshoes or open sandals. Steel cap boots for heavy manual tasks, set construction, art department or lighting.
  • Cut-resistant gloves when working with steel, acrylic, timber or anything that can puncture or cut hands.
  • Hi-vis clothing around vehicles, road closures, rigging areas, or as directed by Safety.
  • Sun protection: hat, SPF50+ sunscreen, sunglasses, light-coloured covering clothing.
  • Insect repellent on exposed skin - available at catering, unit and tech base.
Step 11 of 14

High risk work & bridges

⚠ Working at height

Must be authorised. Submit a Work at Height SWMS, use installed fall protection, have a rescue plan, and be trained.

A dropped item can cause catastrophic head injuries. Stay out of exclusion zones underneath work at height. Must enter? Get permission from the crew working above and wear a helmet.

🏗 EWPs & hot works

  • EWPs over 11m: high-risk licence + full-body harness. Scissor lifts: EWPA Yellow Card. Always need a ground person.
  • Hot works permit required before any grinding, welding, open flame or SFX - issued by Safety or Art Department manager.

🌉 Bridge limits

BridgeLimit
Crow's Nest (Studio)9 people
Crow's Nest (Trials)5 people
Main bridges (steel/aluminium)5 people / 400kg
Small bridges (PSC/Trails)1 person / 120kg
Step 12 of 14

Animals & insects

🥾 Going into the bush

  • Stay on formed tracks - don't wander off without telling anyone.
  • Always take a radio. Wear enclosed footwear with good grip.

The golden rule: if you can't see your feet, you shouldn't be there.

🦟 Mosquitoes

Most active dusk/dawn. Can carry Barmah Forest & Ross River virus (~1 in a million). Use repellent and light clothing.

🕷 Spiders

The Funnel Web (deadly, ground-dwelling only) is present, plus Forest Huntsman, tarantulas and Orb Spiders. Bitten? Go to Medical or call Channel 2 immediately.

🩸 Leeches

Don't pull off - use repellent, salt or salt-based products (never a cigarette). Wash and apply pressure after removal.

🪲 Ticks

Don't pull out - see medical staff for safe removal. Some are paralysis ticks; over 24 hours can cause semi-paralysis.

🐜 Other insects

Scorpions, bees, jumping/bull ants, centipedes can bite or sting but won't be fatal. Repeated exposure can build an allergy - tell Medical if you feel dizzy, throat swelling or itchy eyes.

Step 13 of 14

Driving, landowners & site rules

🏡 Landowners & residents

  • Take your rubbish out of camp - do not litter anywhere on site.
  • Do not approach landowners or their animals, or enter areas not used by the production.
  • The landowners' home is behind the Art Offices - do not enter. Issues go to Amy Kings (Senior Site Production Manager) & or one of the Producers.

🚗 Driving rules

  • No seat, no ride. No phone use while driving. Not fit to drive? Take the bus.
  • Keep left, give way to residents and landowners. Beware of animals and wildlife on the road.
  • Speed limit: 30km/h near the Dungay site, 50km/h further along toward Tomewin Road.
  • Site is busy, watch for pedestrians on roads and around site.

🛺 Buggies

  • Approved, trained drivers only - complete the IAC buggy operator course with Safety. Refreshers for returning crew.
  • Seat belts worn at all times. No one rides in the tray.
  • 10km/h speed limit applies across site.
OffenseConsequence

♻ Smoking & waste

  • Smoke only in designated areas with sand-filled butt bins. Never discard butts on the ground - fire risk.
  • All waste in a bin - recycle paper/plastic/general where possible.
